Early in the morning, at around 3 AM, well before daybreak, we embark on a journey to Baratang Islands, situated approximately 110 kilometers away from Port Blair. Our route takes us through the road that passes through the Jarawas Tribe Reserve, also known as the ATR Road (Andaman Trunk Road or the State Highway). This road trip is an adventure in itself as it offers a chance to witness the fabulous and enchanting forest scenery. We will travel in convoys to reach Nilambur Jetty, located in the Middle Strait. From there, we will board a ferry for the 15-minute ride to Baratang Island. The ferry journey is quite picturesque, surrounded by thick mangrove creeks on both sides, with dense tropical forests in the background. The major attractions at Baratang Island are the Lime Stone Cave and Mud Volcanoes.
