LIMESTONE CAVE

The Baratang Limestone Cave, situated on Baratang Island, is approximately 110 kilometers away from Port Blair. To reach this natural wonder, you'll embark on a journey via the road that traverses the Jarawas Tribe Reserve, also known as the ATR Road (Andaman Trunk Road or the State Highway). The adventure continues as you travel through a captivating and lush forest in convoys until you reach Nilambur Jetty at Middle Strait. From there, a short 15-20 minute boat ride on a fiber boat takes you to the limestone cave. This boat journey meanders through thick mangrove creeks on both sides, enveloped by the embrace of a dense tropical forest. The Limestone Cave is renowned for its impressive limestone formations, showcasing various captivating patterns naturally etched by the limestone over time. Stepping inside the cave, you'll notice that the temperature is notably cooler than the outside, adding to the enchantment of this natural wonder.
